523 for Black Creators is a program designed for Black creators at the very start of their professional journey. The goal is to provide participants with industry knowledge, resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help them jumpstart their careers.
Eligibility:
- Must be 18 or older
- Self-identify as Black
- Be an emerging creator
- At the beginning stages of their content creation journey, iterating and improving over time with minimal external guidance
- Seeking to become a professional creator
- Have a history of abiding by community guidelines (on Snapchat)
- Create positive content that aligns with Snapchat's values, such as empathy, kindness, and creativity
Benefits:
The Black Creator Accelerator will support 25 aspiring Black creators with a $10,000 monthly stipend to pursue creative endeavors and connect with opportunities to build sustainable, full-fledged careers.
Additionally, partners like Google Pixel, Westbrook Media, and UNCMMN will collaborate with Snapchat to enrich the educational curriculum and deliver tailored workshops for participants.
Timeline:
- June 23: Applications open
- August 12: Applications close
- September: Applicants will be informed of their application status and selections
- September: 523 for Black Creators class announced
- November 2022: Program starts and runs for one year
